Lorde adds Sydney and Melbourne shows to her upcoming Solar Power tour amid ‘unprecedented demand’


Lorde has added more Sydney and Melbourne shows to her highly anticipated Solar Power Tour, which will commence early next year.

The Kiwi pop star, 24, announced on Thursday she will be performing another two Australian concerts due to ‘unprecedented demand’.

It comes a week after the Royals star revealed she’ll be touring Down Under to promote the release of new album Solar Power.

New dates: Lorde has added more Sydney and Melbourne shows to her highly anticipated Solar Power Tour, which will commence early next year. Pictured performing in Barcelona in June 2018

The new shows were added ‘to satisfy overwhelming demand from fans during the pre-sale period’, which has now closed.

The tour will commence in Christchurch on Saturday, February 26, before concluding in Perth on Saturday, March 19.

She’ll be performing in Melbourne on Saturday, March 12, with an additional show booked for Sunday, March 13.

The Green Light hitmaker will then perform in Sydney on Tuesday, March 15, with a new show added for Wednesday, March 16.

This brings her tally of shows in Australia to six, with additional concerts taking place in Brisbane and Perth.

Tickets for all her shows will go on sale to the general public at midday local time on Monday, July 5.

According to Frontier Touring, the company presenting Lorde’s Solar Power Tour, additional dates were added ‘due to unprecedented demand’.

Pre-sale tickets completely sold out for Upper Moutere, Lower Hutt, Havelock North, Melbourne and Sydney. 

It will be the first time in five years that Lorde has toured her native New Zealand and Australia.

She’s also set to tour the USA, UK and Europe, with several concerts selling out within minutes of going on sale.

Her latest single, Solar Power, was released last month. The album of the same name is due out on Friday, August 20.

Lorde told The Guardian last week she’d ‘pored over every f**king detail’ of her new LP.
