Fitness trainer Kayla Itsines challenges fashion designer Pip Edwards to a gruelling workout

Kayla Itsines put Pip Edwards through her paces with one of her gruelling workouts recently.

In videos posted to both of their Instagram pages on Thursday, Kayla, 30, was seen training Pip through a circuit, which included weights, bike and rowing machine.

The celebrity fitness trainer also had the 41-year-old P.E Nation co-founder perform a series of floor exercises, including stomach crunches, leaping squats and knee lifts.

Despite the punishing workout, two women appeared to have bonded, with Kayla treating an exhausted Pip to a shoulder massage.

At one stage, they even shared a hug as they modelled clothes from Pip’s P.E Nation activewear range.

Sitting down on a bench to chat, Kayla told her followers that ‘Pip is super fit,’ which prompted the fashion designer to laugh.

Kayla then asked Pip how she thought she’d feel after the intense workout, with Pip responding: ‘Amazing. I think I’ll feel amazing.’

But captioning the video on her Instagram page, Pip joked that what she meant to say was it would be ‘amazing’ if she survived.

‘Yeah… “I’ll feel amazing, because… if I survive this, that will be AMAZING!! Hahaha,”‘ she wrote.

‘So, I challenged my usual pilates training regime [sic] and test[ed] myself and survived (only just) a @kayla_itsines sweat session. Ready for round two’.

Meanwhile, Kayla praised Pip and lamented the benefits of a good workout on her Instagram page.

‘Because working out makes people feel GOOD, and I love that I can help people feel that way! You can almost feel Pip’s post-workout endorphins just by watching this!

‘It’s so interesting to me that people “dread” the thought of working out SO much, when in reality, as soon as they start moving, their attitude almost instantly changes!

‘Working out CAN be hard, yes, but there is fun to be had in it too (and Pip’s facial expressions say it all)!’

Kayla revealed that Pip wasn’t feeling on her game prior to their workout, but said it didn’t take her long to get into it.

‘Pip is always a ball of energy (that’s no secret) but when we sat down to chat before this workout, she told me she was feeling a little “out of routine” after having just been on a week-long holiday…’ she added.

‘But to be honest, all it took was some awesome tunes, a quick warm up and a touch of tough love from me to get Pip feeling pumped for her workout… and she absolutely SMASHED IT. And I had so much fun training her!’
