She’s one of Channel Seven’s most glamorous journalists.

Farewell: After five years as federal political reporter for Seven News, Olivia Leeming has left the network to continue her journalism career in Bangkok, Thailand

Olivia will be ‘freelancing throughout Asia for the next three years’.

It comes two days after she shared an emotional post on Instagram farewelling her Seven News colleagues.

‘Nearly five years after accepting my dream job in Seven’s Parliament House bureau, it’s time to embark on a new adventure,’ she began.

‘This week I’ll be heading to Bangkok (camera and laptop in tow) to find stories across Asia in the midst of a pandemic.’

Olivia went on to say her ‘love of federal politics will never fade’.

She then reflected on the news events she covered during her five years at Seven.

‘Covering the decisions that impact all Australians and attempting to hold those in power to account has been an immense privilege,’ she said.

‘I covered my first federal budget in 2012 as a junior radio reporter and first federal election in 2013 before officially joining the press gallery the following year.

‘In 2016, I traded in my radio mic to join the incredible Seven bureau.’

She finished off her heartfelt post by paying tribute to her Canberra crew.

‘While I’ll miss the chaotic corridors, leadership spills and campaign trails, it’s even more difficult to farewell my amazing colleagues,’ she said.

‘An entire team works tirelessly behind the scenes each day to ensure each story and live cross makes it to air. They’re the best in the business.’
