Noel Gallagher reveals he plans to sell Oasis back catalogue for £200M to splurge on a superyacht

Noel Gallagher has revealed his plans to sell his music back catalogue for approximately £200million, as he hopes to splash the cash on a superyacht.

The Oasis rocker, 54, joked he will be paying ‘£40k for a haircut’ and said he wants to live at sea, after admitting his kids ‘won’t value’ receiving his entire catalogue.

During the Funny How? podcast with Matt Morgan, he credited Bob Dylan as inspiration, after he sold the copyrights to 600 of his songs for over £226million.

He said: ‘Dylan just sold his back catalogue. Hedge fund guys, are buying them up.

‘All my songs come to me in 2025. You get an extraordinary amount of money and then they pop up in McDonald’s adverts for the rest of time.

‘What do you do? Leave it to your kids? They don’t value music.

‘Or do you take the £200million and buy the superyacht and the Learjet and go, ‘F***ing have it, come on!’

‘I think the latter. I’m getting a superyacht, I’m gonna call it ‘Mega Mega White Thing’. I’m gonna spend a year at sea.

‘People can come and visit. I’ll be flying out my hairdresser, Neil, and paying £40,000 for a haircut. I’ll have a chef.’

Earlier in June, Noel admitted that he felt ‘lonely’ in Oasis but he’s learned to ‘care less’ as he’s gotten older.

Speaking to the Radio Times, the hitmaker went onto claim his feud with his brother Liam was ‘inevitable’, after ruling out the prospect of a reunion.

Noel said: ‘Oasis was a lonelier place… The great thing about ageing is, you just care less.’

The Morning Glory hitmakers fell out in August 2009 after Liam contracted laryngitis and cancelled a festival performance – but Noel claimed he was actually hungover.

After Noel’s allegations, Liam demanded an apology, which Noel did, but he subsequently quit the band.

Speaking at the time, Noel said: ‘I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer’.

Both brothers went on to form new bands after this, and have been embroiled in a public feud ever since.

Comparing his days in the turbulent rock band with his current career, Noel revealed: ‘Oasis was lonelier, and harder work.’

He continued:  ‘I’d got to write Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory whilst the spotlight was over there.

‘Then all of a sudden it’s shining on you while you’re writing,’ he added.

In the candid interview, Noel also revealed that he doesn’t think the Brit Awards are worth watching.

The singer claimed that the Brits ‘were done’ the moment Oasis won the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 – the same year as their public spat began.
