Hollywood film director Ron Howard celebrated his 46th wedding anniversary with wife Cheryl Howard on Monday.

The movie veteran behind the hit films A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code shared a sweet image to Instagram with his spouse – whom he wed when they were both only 21-years-old – as they snuggled for the camera.

‘Our 46th Wedding anniversary. Celebrated quietly but beautifully on the #GoldCoast #QLD on my day off,’ said the father to Jurassic World actress Bryce Dallas Howard. He added, ‘I’m a lucky fella.’

Both Ron – who came to fame on the beloved TV show Happy Days before he turned to directing – and Cheryl are 67. 

Ron also said it was his day off from directing Thirteen Lives, an upcoming biographical survival drama starring Viggo Mortensen.

The shoot is taking place on the Gold Coast of Australia. 

In the image Ron has glasses on and a cap that say Imagine, his production company that has made the hits Parenthood, My Girl, and more recently The Spy Who Dumped Me. His wife also wore glasses as she was in a pea green shirt.

The two wed on June 7, 1975 when he was an actor who had already starred in American Graffiti and she worked as a writer. They have four children together: in addition to Bryce they share twins Jocelyn Carlyle and Paige Howard, 36, and son Reed Cross, 34.

In 2019 he told People: ‘I met her, and there was never anybody else.’  

Ron’s next movie is Thirteen Lives which stars not only Viggo but also Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton.

The movie will tell the story of the international rescue effort to save a boys football team who became trapped in a cave in Thailand after it was flooded by heavy rain in 2018. 

The rescue made headlines across the globe as all 12 boys, as well as their coach, were saved.

Viggo, Colin and Joel will star as rescuers Richard Stanton, John Volanthen and Dr. Richard Harris respectively.
