The comedian, 38, who welcomed his first child into the world in 2017, confirmed his wife Rose Hanson had given birth.

Josh, who hosts his own lockdown parenting podcast with Rob Beckett, joked about the sleepless nights as he talked about the new addition to his family.

At the start of the programme, host Adam Hills introduced fellow comedian Alex Brooker before turning his attention to Josh.

He introduced him by joking: ‘The man who recently welcomed a new baby to the world, which means we literally know what he did last summer, Josh Widdicombe!’

Josh then started talking about the experience of becoming a father for the second time. He said: ‘I’ll take you through the whole story. I’ve had a baby; I can’t sleep, and I wish I hadn’t had a baby.

‘But luckily for you when I have had 12% of my required sleep, what I really want to do is rip the news to shreds.’

He also added: ‘I haven’t had a nap today; I was wondering if you and Alex could carry it for the first 15 minutes and then I will wake up for the guests?’

To which host Alex came back and joked: ‘Yeah, so like a normal show then?’

Back in 2019, Josh talked about marrying Rose during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

As a photo of Josh and Rose flashed up on screen, Ben Shephard joked: ‘Punching as they say.’

The comedian laughed off the comment and went to talk about becoming a father while touring around the U.K.

He said: ‘I can’t drink as much being a new dad. I went out for a few drinks when I was on tour in Scotland and got in at around 2am.

‘I got to my hotel and my room key card didn’t work. I went downstairs and the receptionist told me I was the wrong hotel. I was so drunk I went to the wrong hotel in Edinburgh.’
