Eview Group agent Akshay Chawla said the buyer will probably build a new home on the site as there are no heritage protections.

‘I think a high-profile buyer will knock it down and put a $5m home on it, and keep the tennis court. By the looks of it at the moment, that’s what people are thinking.’

Mr Chawla added: ‘It’s one of the biggest blocks in the Golden Mile of Brighton… there’s nothing in Brighton with half an acre of land.’

Meanwhile, Rebecca Judd and her husband, Chris Judd, transformed their Spanish colonial-style Melbourne mansion in Brighton after buying it for $7.3million in March 2018.

They replaced its dated aesthetic and apricot colour palette, and added modern touches like gold brass fittings, marble and steel doors.

The couple kept the home’s defining architectural feature – its arches – and used this shape as a theme throughout the interior.

The home has a gym, a tennis court that can be turned into ‘a footy oval or cricket pitch’, and a magnesium salt pool.
