Sunrise host David Koch, 65, accidentally makes a crude remark about his wife Libby live on air – as he defends AFL player Jordan De Goey’s ‘bum-tapping’ incident

A pre-match bum-squeezing incident in the Collingwood changeroom sparked a major debate this week, resulting in a review being launched by the AFL.

And on Tuesday, Sunrise host and Port Adelaide chairman David ‘Kochie’ Koch weighed in on the argument on Channel Seven’s breakfast show.

The 65-year-old surprised viewers and his fellow presenters by revealing his his wife of 42 years, Libby, does a similar thing to him ‘all the time’.

The locker-room incident in question saw Collingwood’s Jordan De Goey rubbing the bottom of teammate Isaac Quaynor, before using his middle finger to pinch his rear.

After saying he didn’t find the incident wrong because the recipient ‘doesn’t have a problem’ with it, Kochie said: ‘Let’s not go overboard with this. Lib does that to me all the time and I don’t worry.’

Offering another defence of Jordan, Kochie added: ‘These guys work with each other in the workplace… if he’s happy for him to do it, what’s wrong with it?’

He then asked weatherman Sam Mac for his opinion, due to the fact he regularly played sports in his younger years.

‘When you played school-boy soccer, did you give teammates a bit of a tap on the bum?’ Kochie asked.

‘No, I wasn’t a tap-on-the-bottom kind of guy. I did receive a few,’ Sam said, to which Kochie responded: ‘Were you offended?’

‘No I wasn’t offended, it’s fine. I’m pretty comfortable with most things Kochie, so it’s all good!’ the funnyman said.

Collingwood and De Goey have not been sanctioned for the pre-game incident on Saturday, but the AFL has reminded players to be mindful of their actions in future.

The awkward encounter captured by Fox Sports occurred moments before Collingwood ran onto the SCG for their clash against the Sydney Swans on Saturday, which they went on to lose.

De Goey’s antics came under heavy fire from AFL greats, with many branding the move ‘inappropriate’ and blasting the player for attempting to distract his teammate from listening to the coach.

The club denied his actions were inappropriate.

‘We believe appropriate changeroom behaviour is important,’ a Collingwood spokesperson told foxfooty.com.au.

‘In this instance, neither the players nor the club believe inappropriate behaviour has occurred.’
