Nova radio hosts Ben and Liam have the ‘worst interview ever’ with Delta Goodrem

Nova radio hosts Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton had a complete shocker of an interview with singer Delta Goodrem live on their radio show this week.

The pair, who host Nova 919 together, tried to speak to delta about her new music but the hit maker had a number of distractions while on the call.

But it was all in good fun though, as Liam set the whole thing up with Delta beforehand to prank Ben.

Pranksters: Nova radio hosts Ben and Liam had the ‘worst interview ever’ with Delta Goodrem this week. But it was all in good fun though, as Liam set the whole thing up with Delta beforehand to prank Ben

‘You’re about to listen to the worst interview we’ve ever done,’ Liam said at the start of a clip shared on their website.

‘It was planned that way though. Ben thought we were speaking to Delta on the phone and she was just next door and we were playing some wacky sound effects to confuse the fella,’ he hilariously said.

Delta was in a studio next door and happily played along with the prank, adjusting her responses as sound effects played in the background, including of a dog barking and even drums.

At one point, a dog barked in the background and Delta hilariously quipped: ‘So sorry guys, that’s my dog Max, stop it, stop it!’

At another point, a sound effect of a baby crying was played and Delta covered it up by saying she was having family staying with her at the moment.

As drums played in the background, Delta said it was her brother Trent making the noise and pretended to yell at him to be quiet.

‘Turn it off, I’m serious, now!’ Delta yelled.

Liam then cut Delta off, continuing to prank Ben.

‘I think we might call it, Delta,’ he said, as they plugged her new music again.

Afterwards, Liam told a laughing and shocked Ben that it was all a joke.

Delta meanwhile, is preparing to release her sixth studio album.

The 36-year-old told Daily Mail Australia last week about how she stays motivated and why she decided to open up about a secret health battle in her new album.

‘With songwriting, there’s having a shared experience to be able to connect with people,’ Delta told Daily Mail Australia.

‘There’s a reason you share these vulnerabilities or these stories,’ Delta explained.

‘I think that kind of transparency that’s going on with people sharing is something that connects us even closer.’

‘There’s strength and and vulnerability, but I think the reason you share it because you don’t know what somebody else is going through and someone else might relate.’

Delta also spoke about her decision to release a song about her secret health battle where she lost the ability to speak.

‘When we were in lockdown it was a really important message to say that you just don’t know what somebody is going through,’ she said.

‘Through music I am able to say how I feel and talk about that about that moment of stillness, but it really was the core of what made that whole record. It was the reset.’

Delta continued: ‘It was the going back to just being barefoot at the piano, playing my song, writing from the heart and being honest in the music.’
