Mum shares her clever morning trick for getting her kids to eat their school lunch EVERY time

  • Cassie said she gets her daughters to choose from a selection of healthy snacks
  • The food included vegetables, fruit, pretzels, rice crackers and yoghurt

An Australian mum-of-two has revealed the unique tactic she uses to make sure her daughters always eat their school lunches.

Rather than packing the lunches herself, Cassie said the ‘best way’ to pack the right food is to get the children to choose from a selection of healthy snacks.

Sharing an image to a popular parenting group, she wrote: ‘I have found this is the best way to get my kids to eat their lunch at school. All on the bench, pick what you want and pack your own. Anyone else do this?’

The range of snacks included cucumber, carrots, almonds, mandarins, pretzels, rice crackers celery, yoghurt, grapes and muesli bars.

The clever trick not only ensures the kids eat their lunch but also reduces the amount of waste going into landfill.

‘I think we get stuck in a rut of doing the same thing. My eldest eats very little at school, but eats heaps at home, so now she just grabs a couple of items and nothing comes home wasted,’ Cassie wrote.

Other parents part of the Facebook group said the tactic is a ‘great idea’ and many seemed eager to try it with their kids too.

‘Yum! Can you come do this for me? Great idea!’ one woman wrote, and some said they too implement the same trick.

‘I wash, cut prepare all the stuff on the weekend and store it in containers in the fridge. The non-fridge stuff are put in jars or containers and kept on the kitchen bench,’ another said.

‘It takes my daughter five to ten minutes to put together something for lunch.’
