David Campbell’s fans rush to defend him after the Today Extra host was brutally trolled for bravely sharing his gender pronouns on Instagram

David Campbell’s fans and followers have rushed to his defence after he was trolled for announcing his gender pronouns on Instagram.

The Today Extra host was forced to block online trolls on Thursday after he started receiving negative comments for putting the male ‘he/him’ pronouns in his bio and encouraging others to do the same.

‘This is a step forward for all! Thanks for the nudge,’ gushed one fan.

Many others personally thanked the 47-year-old for making them aware of Instagram’s new pronoun section, which allows users to list their pronouns in their bio.

‘This is awesome. Thanks for the heads-up,’ one wrote. ‘That’s so cool. Just did mine. Thanks for the heads up,’ gushed another admirer.

While David was forced to delete all the negative comments, including one that said his pronouns ‘should be simp’, he did leave one comment up that questioned his decision to delete those who disagreed with him.

‘You are blocking people because they disagree with you??? Hope I’m reading your words wrongly?’ the person wrote.

‘No I am blocking ignorant people who choose to rant here,’ David responded.

The backlash started on Wednesday when David posted a screenshot of his Instagram bio with his updated pronouns in the bio circled in a giant red marker.

‘I love that Instagram now allows you to add your pronouns,’ he wrote.

David then confirmed in the comments section that he’d been busy blocking trolls.

‘This has been very helpful to see who I need to block,’ he wrote.
