MAFS: Jason Engler says trolls drove him to get a cosmetic procedure

Married At First Sight‘s Jason Engler has undergone a cosmetic procedure after the trolling he received because of the show left his self-esteem in tatters.

The 35-year-old construction estimator, who failed to find love with school teacher Alana Lister, said keyboard warriors had driven him to tweak his appearance.

He was often mocked for his patchy, poorly defined eyelashes, and so decided to make them ‘more noticeable by getting them coloured’.

Jason told Daily Mail Australia he was so affected by trolls saying he didn’t have any eyelashes, he decided to get them professionally dyed.

Exclusive photos show the Brisbane native getting his lashes darkened at a salon.

Jason said he was often made fun of for not having prominent eyelashes during his appearance on Nine’s social experiment.

He also said viewers had accused him of being ‘high’ because of his ‘stoner-looking eyes’.

‘I don’t know why everyone always thinks that. I don’t smoke weed,’ he clarified. ‘My eyes were red because either I was really tired or I had been crying at some point.’ 

It comes after Jason revealed he would never get back with Alana, after they split up following their final views.

‘Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it work outside of the experiment. Without outside influences I think we could have been an amazing couple but that wasn’t to be…’ he wrote on Instagram last month.

‘Maybe in the next lifetime. Alana is every bit the amazing woman Australia has seen and she deserves all the love and happiness in the world.’

He added: ‘As much as I wanted to give her that happiness I couldn’t. I’ll always have a place for [her] in my heart.’
