MAFS: Jake Edwards and girlfriend Sophie Guidolin look tense on the Gold Coast

Married At First Sight’s Jake Edwards has been dating Instagram influencer Sophie Guidolin for a few months now.

But on Wednesday, the couple looked slightly tense as they stepped out on the Gold Coast.

The stress is likely a result of the couple being trolled online, which forced Sophie to delete photos of Jake from her Instagram feed.

Jake looked casual in a grey T-shirt and light blue shorts. Sophie matched his casual style in a flirty green dress with pleats on the skirt.

At one point, she looked a little tense as she took a call on her mobile phone.  

Since embarking on their relationship earlier this year, Jake and Sophie have been seemingly inseparable.

But on Tuesday, just weeks after confirming their romance, Sophie deleted all the photos of Jake she’d posted over the last five months.

The 32-year-old also removed an episode of her Flourish & Fulfilled podcast titled The Man Who Has Flipped My World Upside Down, which was all about Jake.

While some fans speculated the personal trainer’s decision to wipe Jake from her Instagram account was a sign of trouble in paradise, a friend of Sophie’s insisted this wasn’t the case.

They explained she’d taken down all photos of her boyfriend because of trolls. 

‘Sophie and Jake are very much still together, the online trolling is unbearable and something they shouldn’t have to deal with on a daily basis,’ the pal told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday. 

Sophie had initially wanted to flaunt her new romance, but has since decided to keep her relationship private. 

‘She just wants to protect him. It’s been a tough time for them both, but they just want to move on with their life,’ the friend added.

It comes after Jake opened up about his difficulty keeping his romance with Sophie a secret while his television ‘marriage’ to Beck Zemek was still airing on TV. 

‘It’s very difficult because the show is airing four months after we stopped filming and in my opinion it’s unfair to ask people to stop living their lives,’ he told Daily Mail Australia on Saturday.

‘Once I met Sophie, I was like, “This is it. I’m not going to not be with her.” Social media is part of both of our lives and it was very hard to keep our relationship quiet.’

‘It was difficult because we were so in love from day one and we just wanted to be normal, go out and do normal things. It was pretty stressful,’ he added.

‘I’m very happy at the moment, I couldn’t have asked for a better result in terms of my love life.’

‘Sophie has been my rock, she’s been my strength, and has been there for me, and vice versa, ever since we met,’ he continued.

In Sophie’s now-deleted podcast episode, she told listeners that Jake had surprised her by getting her name tattooed on his body.

‘My favourite birthday gift was a tattoo on Jake of my name, which is across him, which is really beautiful,’ she said.
