Rescue of Meghan Markle’s dressmaker thrown into turmoil after co-founder dramatically resigns

The rescue of Meghan’s dressmaker has been thrown into turmoil after its co-founder dramatically quit.

Ralph & Russo collapsed into administration in March with £27.8m debts because of the cancellation of glitzy events and alleged financial mismanagement.

Now Tamara Ralph, 39, the designer behind Meghan Markle’s £56,000 engagement dress, has resigned, according to The Sunday Times.

It is a sharp about-turn for Ralph who, following the collapse, said: ‘I would also like to reaffirm my commitment to the brand and taking it to new heights.’

Ralph’s star quality was being relied on to attract bids from super-rich buyers, fashion houses or private equity.

Her exit is likely to lead to a much lower price for the company, or jeopardise the sale completely, putting the firm’s 130 staff out of work and hitting suppliers.
