Shane Warne reveals he did not meet son Jackson until he was months old

Shane Warne has revealed the sacrifices he made during his illustrious cricketing career.

While the athlete travelled the world competing for Australia, he often spent months away from his family.

Now 51 and retired from the sport, Shane says that spending time with his three children over the past year during the pandemic has been a blessing.

‘I wasn’t a nine-to-five dad who came home every night,’ he told A Current Affair on Friday.

‘They had to do months on end, watching dad on the TV because I was playing cricket for Australia’ he told A Current Affair on Friday.

Shane went on: ‘One of the biggest sacrifices is that you’re away from your family for a long period of time. It’s not easy, it’s really tough.’

Shane said that cricketers would be too busy playing to ‘go hone for births’ and admitted he did not meet his son, Jackson, 21, who was born in 1999, until the tot was months old.

‘I didn’t see my son until he was a few months old because I was in the middle of the World Cup, and I wasn’t going to leave the World Cup. It was just a different time’.
