Controversy as Ironman Max Beattie is evicted from the first episode of Big Brother Australia with just ONE VOTE

On Monday night’s debut episode of Big Brother Australia, one housemate was shown the door.

Controversially, Max Beattie was evicted from the house after just one episode – and with just one single vote.

The New Zealand Ironman pleaded with Nicholas “Nick” Benton and Daniel Hayes – the only two housemates who held the power of one vote each – to keep him in the game.

He cited his physical prowess, and insisted he would fight on their side when challenges came up.

House painter Nick was called to the diary room, and refused to vote, as was his right, when Big Brother asked for his verdict.

Next real estate agent Daniel entered the diary room, and was shown grinning smugly before returning to the group.

His vote was not immediately revealed, resulting in a short cliffhanger as Max, as well as two other possible evictees –  Melissa McGorman and Christina Podolyan – awaited their fate.

Melissa, a sheep farmer, insisted that she was only being herself and was no threat to anyone, while Christina also said she was not on the show to play games.

The result was then announced – Max had been voted out, with one vote – cast secretly by Daniel.

Max was given one minute to say his goodbyes, sharing an icy handshake with Daniel, who he no doubt suspected of casting the vote.

Earlier in the episode, Nick tried to convince Daniel not to vote to evict Max, but Daniel disagreed.

He insisted it was the right move is to vote out Max, who is an an alpha male, as he might only get one shot at it.
