Football photographer has shoe laces tied to a fence during Irish League match

Foul! Moment football photographer discovers prankster has tied him to a fence by his shoelaces while he is snapping Irish League match

  • Photographer Bill Guiller was taking snaps of Larne FC at Inver Park, N Ireland
  • While he focused on the game someone tied his shoelaces to fence behind him
  • He only realised minutes later, with footage showing his struggling to get free

This is the hilarious moment a football photographer realised he had been tied to a fence by his shoelaces while he was lying down to get the perfect action shot.

Bill Guiller had to call for help in the middle Larne FC’s match at Inver Road, Northern Ireland after someone pulled the prank on him.

Footage shows the 55-year-old snapper lying on grass at the edge of the pitch taking photos of the game against Warrenpoint last Friday.

But while Bill was focusing on the game, the prankster had somehow managed to sneak up behind him and tie his shoelaces to the metal barrier.

It was not until minutes later that Bill realised and found himself unable to stand up.

Footage shows a staff member in a high-vis jacket and a St John’s Ambulance volunteer helping the snapper to free himself.

The photographer did, however, see the funny side, posting the footage online with the caption ‘when they tie your laces to fence at Inver Park’ followed by a laughing emoji.

He added that the prank helped show off the team’s ‘good Irish banter’, but said he would be more alert in his wellies next time.

The club also posted the video in a tweet saying: ‘Tied to the fence. Not tied to the fence. Either way, Bill Guiller still takes a great photo!’

Bill’s son Chris also commented on the prank, saying ‘ya know what? If it was me I’d be doing it with cable ties’.

Larne FC, who are fourth in the Irish League, won the match 5-0.
