Catherine Tyldesley teased details about ‘intriguing’ new drama series Viewpoint during Wednesday’s edition of The One Show.

The actress, 37, who plays Kate Tuckman on the police show, insisted the project will surely get viewers ‘gripped’ over the investigation of missing primary school teacher, Gemma Hillman (Amy Wren).

An excited Catherine said: ‘Noel Clarke leads this and when they set up surveillance they’re pretty sure they’re watching their prime suspect, but they soon realise that across this street, everyone’s got their own little secrets and dirty laundry.

‘I can’t possibly say, what will hopefully draw people in is that you think, ”I don’t think I’ll be watching this.”

‘You know when you’re walking down the streets and your neighbours got their lights on, and you have a little nosey, it’s like that! It really does get you gripped.’ 

Viewpoint, one of the ITV’s first post-lockdown series, recently saw production suspended after a positive coronavirus test on set.

But things were swiftly back to normal thanks to the safety protocols in place with the stars back on set and filming this week.

The programme, which is headed up by Fleabag director Harry Bradbeer, follows a tense police surveillance investigation into a close Manchester community.

Noel will take on the role of surveillance detective DC Martin King as he looks into Gemma’s disappearance on the series, set for release next Monday.

This is just one of the new TV projects Catherine has been involved with since quitting her role of Eva Price on Coronation Street in 2018. 

Elsewhere in her chat, the former soap star touched on how she feels about the easing of coronavirus restrictions, after previously being left ‘anxious’ over the nationwide lockdowns.

The mother-of-one said: ‘Just walking down our high street, it was such a joy to see everyone enjoying themselves, but it was still a bit of a shock.

‘We’ve dealt with it for so long now and so many people struggling with it. We’ve had a Zoom life for a year now, I see ring lights in my sleep now!’
