Catherine Zeta-Jones, 51, and Michael Douglas, 76, wish daughter Carys a happy 18th birthday

Catherine Zeta-Jones, 51, and Michael Douglas, 76, gushed over their daughter Carys for her 18th birthday on Tuesday. 

In a heartwarming Instagram album, Catherine included a screen-grab of a text conversation she had with Carys on the morning of her latest birthday as well as a photo of her mini-me child in a swimsuit.

The showbiz couple have been married since 2000 and also share a 20-year-old son named Dylan.

Carys looked like her mother at the start of her career in the profile photo when posing in her floral print swimsuit at the beach.

The text exchange between mother and daughter was also revealed.  ‘Thank you for giving birth to me!’ Carys texted her mother to which Catherine replied: ‘Oh, giving birth to you was my proudest moment!’

Catherine then joked: ‘Wait……….. Oscar?…….. No……… Definitely YOU!’ and added two crying laughing emoji at the end. 

She won her Oscar in 2002 for her supporting role in Chicago – and during both the film shoot and the awards show she was pregnant with Carys.

The proud mother gushed in her caption: ‘Happy 18th Birthday Carys Zeta! You are everything, and everything is you. Thank you for the joy you bring me.’

Catherine, who was born in Swansea, spilled: ‘At 5 am this morning, you texted me to thank me, for giving birth to you. That’s the kind of woman you are. Kind.’

The Intolerable Cruelty actress wrote: ‘Your wisdom out numbers your years. You beauty is deep and your heart is big enough to love and envelop the world, your sense of humor……very important…. is insurmountable.’

Catherine, who rose to fame on the UK sitcom The Darling Buds Of May: ‘I could go on. Your Japanese needs some work, but that’s doable. I love you angel. Mama.’

Meanwhile Michael, who is a showbiz legacy himself as the son of the late Kirk Douglas, posted a sweet snap of Carys hugging him.

‘Honey this your Dad, wishing you the best 18th birthday any young lady could possibly have,’ wrote the Basic Instinct actor.

‘You know how much I love you, how proud I am of you, and the joy I have watching you grow into the young lady you are turning out to be! Happy birthday Carys! I love you! [heart] Dad,’ he concluded.

Michael, whose mother was Kirk Douglas’ first wife Diana Dill, married his own first wife Diandra Luker in 1977.

She gave birth to his son Cameron Douglas in 1978 and filed in 1995 for a divorce that was only finalized in 2000, while Michael and Catherine were an item.

Catherine and Michael welcomed their son Dylan in August 2000 and married at the iconic Plaza Hotel on 5th Avenue that November. 

Carys, whom Catherine was heavily pregnant with when she danced at the Oscars and accepted her trophy for Chicago, arrived in April 2003. 

In a recent Today show interview Catherine gushed that her ‘extremely bright’ children both want to follow their parents into the acting business.

‘Michael and I would be the first parents to say: “You know, maybe you should think of another career,” but we’ve seen how passionate they are about the craft,’ she said.
