Alex Rodriguez throws himself into work after recent split from ex-fiancee Jennifer Lopez

Alex Rodriguez hit the ground running with work to keep his mind off his recent split from now ex-fiancée Jennifer Lopez, though it has been said he has ‘high hopes’ of a reconciliation. 

And the former MLB player, 45, was seen deplaning his private jet in Hartford, Connecticut ahead of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. 

He and the famed singer officially announced their split after saying they were ‘working through some things,’ a few weeks prior, and their joint statement said they were ‘better as friends.’ 

The baseball shortstop turned sports correspondent strolled off the plane in a pair of khaki pants and a white button polo shirt. He looked ready to work as he carried his iPad and a black traveler bag. 

A-Rod wore sunglasses and a face covering for protection as he made his way to a vehicle to take him to the studio. 

And though he expressed sadness over the fizzling of their two year engagement with a forlorn video of their photos set to a Coldplay song, he seemed to be keeping his head in the game. 

The pair released a joint statement to TODAY just days ago where they announced they were going their separate ways after a tough couple weeks. 

‘We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. 

‘We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support,’ they wrote. 

Days before the statement she shared posts without her engagement ring which signaled to many that they were done. Despite the split she still has the ring in her possession which is worth $1.8M. 

The pair first addressed claims they had split in early March, responding in a statement that they were still together but ‘working through some things.’  

And Lopez had confessed that they had done couple’s therapy in conversation with Allure. ‘We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship,’ she told the publication.  

Perhaps third party intervention being a catalyst for their decline, speculation built that he had stepped out on the singer with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy after she was accused of being in sleeping with a ‘married MLB player.’ She denied seeing the individual in person. 

LeCroy confessed that she and him had texted and facetimed on a few occasions, before she clarified they were merely ‘acquaintances,’ despite his prior claims that he didn’t know who she was. 

She told Page Six that they had ‘never been physical’ or ‘had any kind of anything,’  adding: ‘he’s never physically cheated on his fiancée with me.’ 

Tension in his relationship with Lopez continued to mount at that time and it was reported that she was a fan of grand gestures on his part to win her back. 

While filming her upcoming movie Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic he had flown up to show his commitment to her. 

But after the split Lopez seemed to cryptically allude that things were never all that solid between them when she liked an Instagram post that read: ‘Don’t make her think you care when you have never given a f**k about her.’ 

And it has been said that though he has ‘high hopes’ they will get back together she ‘feels good about her decision.’  

‘Once her trust is broken, there’s no turning around. She feels good about her decision,’ a source told E! News, adding that she had ‘not been happy for awhile.’
