Married At First Sight’s Jason Engler shares emotional tribute to Alana Lister despite split

Jason Engler has blamed ‘outside forces’ for his split with Alana Lister. 

The  Married At First Sight star, 35, shared two photos of the pair together to Instagram on Friday, saying he still had ‘love’ for his 30-year-old former bride.  

‘Few snaps of Alana and I in happier times after final vows. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it work outside of the experiment,’ he wrote. 

‘Without outside influences I think we could have been an amazing couple but that wasn’t to be… maybe in the next lifetime hey. 

‘Alana is every bit the amazing woman Australia has seen and she deserves all the love and happiness in the world. 

‘As much as I wanted to give her that happiness I couldn’t. I’ll always have a place for you in my heart… Later crit’. 

It comes after Jason showed off a suspicious-looking mark on Wednesday’s episode of Married At First Sight.

The groom had what appeared to be a love bite on the left side of his neck, just below his jawline.

Despite the telling mark, Jason revealed he had actually broken up with ‘wife’ Alana prior to the show’s reunion dinner.

Alana explained that she was ready to break up with Jason at the final vows, but changed her mind after he told her he was in love with her.

‘I really tried to make our relationship work. I put in a lot of effort. I really tried my hardest, I really liked Jason,’ she added. 

‘But maybe, I think, two weeks later, Jason and I had an argument, and he just kind of refused to talk about it, refused to acknowledge it.’
