Married At First Sight’s Booka Nile regrets kiss with Jake Edwards

Booka Nile has expressed her regret over kissing fellow Married At First Sight star Jake Edwards during a boozy New Year’s Eve party.

However, the heavy metal musician, 31, insisted in an interview with 9Entertainment on Thursday that the smooch was strictly platonic.

‘On New Year’s Eve I shared a kiss with about 10 of my friends, as I do every New Year’s Eve as the clock strikes midnight,’ she explained. 

‘And Jake was one of those people because I’m very used to having close relationships with my male friends,’ she added. 

Booka explained she also kissed MAFS bride Beth Moore that night, and ‘Beth and Jake gave each other a kiss’ too. 

The Make Them Suffer keyboardist went on to say that platonic kissing is ‘just really fricking normal’ in her family and friendship group.

When asked if the kiss with Jake meant anything, Booka shot back: ‘The kiss did mean something. It meant, “Happy New Year, Jake.”‘

The only think Booka did regret about the kiss was the fact it upset Jake’s on-screen wife Beck Zemek.  

She said: ‘I wish it hadn’t happened because it had a carry-on effect and it hurt Beck… Because you know what does mean something to me: Beck.’ 

‘I regret it. If I could go back again I one hundred per cent wouldn’t do it,’ Booka stressed.

‘Beck felt those feelings. Whatever that brought up in her was caused by things that have happened to her in her past and also the types of people she hangs out with. We’re from different worlds.’ 

‘I think that Beck handled it well,’ Booka said of the confrontation she and Beck later had over the incident.

‘She took the time to process. She wasn’t nasty and in the end we moved past it.’

Beck, 27, had unleashed on Jake for kissing Booka during Wednesday night’s reunion dinner party, after discovering footage of the kiss circulating on social media. 

After admitting he had ‘innocently kissed’ Booka at a New Year’s Eve party in Perth, Beck slammed Jake’s behaviour. 

‘I gave Booka a kiss on the lips, just happy New Year’s. It was very innocently. We are all friends. If I thought it was something more than that, I probably would not have filmed it,’ Jake explained.

‘If we wind the clock back for a bit, I went to Perth to spend time with Beck and hang out with Beck on New Year’s Eve. I’m in the state to be with her but she doesn’t want to be with me, which is fine,’ he said.

Jake also claimed Beck had given him ‘every sign that we were not together’. 

‘But it’s not justifiable!’ Beck then yelled at him.

‘Yes, Jake and I were still together when he kissed Booka. It just really infuriates me to hear that he was saying otherwise,’ a frustrated Beck added.

Booka then explained the incident wasn’t ‘romantic’ and apologised to Beck for kissing Jake and hurting her feelings in the process.

‘It wasn’t romantic… What I’m saying is it’s never okay so leave it at that. The fact of the matter is we did something that hurt Beck and I’m sorry about that. I really am,’ Booka said.

Last month, Daily Mail Australia revealed Jake had shared a boozy ‘three-way kiss’ with Booka and Beth Moore during a New Year’s Eve party in Perth.

Jake and Booka were friends before appearing on Married At First Sight, but they have always refuted any suggestion of a romance.

While the video only showed Jake giving Booka a peck, sources said there was definite chemistry between them on the night.
