He weighs into relationships on one of Australia’s most controversial dating shows, Married At First Sight.

But it seems that even when the cameras stop rolling, John Aiken is more than happy to provide his expert advice on romance and heartbreak.  

On Friday, the 50-year-old shed light on the best ways to ‘move on’ from unrequited love and how to tell if the person you’re dating is ‘The One.’

Firstly, he gave three simple steps for those with feelings for somebody who does not feel the same. 

‘What you need to think about is really going cold turkey. Cut all contact from this person, mix in different circles,’ John told 9 Honey.

He added jumping back into the dating scene was the next best thing to do to ‘start moving on’.

The relationship expert also stressed the importance of trying new venues and locations when heading out for a meal or meeting up with friends. 

In separate clips on 9Honey, John provided advice on the best ways to breaking up with a partner.

He said it was important to get ‘clear on your feelings about why you want to leave’, ‘clarify any remaining doubts’ by talking to friends, ‘be brave’ and speak with your partner face-to-face, and then cut all contact and mix in different circles.

John also addressed how to tell if a partner is ‘The One’.

He said communication was key and it was important to question whether they ‘are your cheerleader and do they make you feel great about yourself.’

Chemistry and a ‘really good strong physical attraction’ was next on John’s list, followed by similar relationship goals and ‘do they get along with your family and friends?’

‘If all of this is looking good, then very likely you’ve found The One,’ he said. 

John appears as an expert on Married At First Sight alongside clinical sexologist Alessandra Rampolla and Mel Schilling. 

Meanwhile this week, John gave fans a rare glimpse into his family life, as he enjoyed a day out at the Sydney Royal Easter Show with his wife and children. 

In a series of photos shared to Instagram, John, 50, cuddled up to his wife of 14 years, Kelly Swanson-Roe.

Also posing with the couple were their two children: son Aston, eight, and daughter Piper, five.

John and Kelly recently celebrated their 14-year wedding anniversary.
