Drag Race UK star Baga Chipz has revealed she is taking a social media break after being trolled for sending the Queen a condolence message after the death of Prince Philip.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, the TV personality, 30, explained: ‘I’m not in the right mental state for this type of abuse,’ before adding: ‘I never meant to upset anyone. I have seen first hand what loss can do to the elderly and wanted to send love.’
She then told fans: ‘I’m coming off twitter. I love you all. And be kind to one another. Lots of love.’

Suggesting she had run out of her ‘depression medication’ just when she needed it, the drag artist told social media users in full: ‘Just when I need my depression medication. I run out. Time for a nap I think.
‘I just want to apologise if I upset anyone for sending my condolences to the queen. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. And I’m sending love to everyone.’
Baga Chipz further apologised for any offense she may have caused in a second tweet, explaining ‘[I] just wanted to send love.’
She continued: ‘I’m sorry if it caused offence. I never meant to upset anyone and I apologise. I just have seen first hand what loss can do to the elderly and just wanted to send love.’
Baga Chipz clarified her messages of condolence ‘don’t mean I support the person who passed.’ [sic]

Addressing some of the abusive messages that she’d received, the star went on: ‘All I do is be nice to people and try and make people happy and I’m always the one who gets hurt.
‘I’m getting all these people who don’t even follow me telling me to burn in hell with Philip and Thatcher. All I did was send my condolences to the queen. Joe Biden just did the same.’
Concluding her posts, Baga Chipz confirmed: ‘I’m coming off twitter. I’ll see you all on the road or on the telly.

Many of the Drag Race star’s fans rushed to send her kind messages including: ‘Just tried to show some compassion towards the Royal Family after Prince Phillip’s passing and got abuse for it. I don’t know wtf is wrong with people anymore.’
Another added: ‘Get yourself well again Baga and come back fighting. All your fans have your back and do not let these hateful people win. Take as much time to look after you and your mental health and I’m sure I speak for all your fans that we will be right here waiting for you.’

A third Twitter user assured Bagga Chipz: ‘You’ve done absolutely nothing wrong, some people are just out to make people unhappy, nothing better to do with their boring lives!’
It came as many celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to Prince Philip after the Palace announced his passing, revealing in a statement he died ‘peacefully’ at Windsor Castle.
The Royal Family said in a statement: ‘It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Celebrities quickly flooded social media with their own tributes, including presenters Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid and Eamonn Holmes.
The makers of royal drama The Crown have said they are ‘deeply saddened’ by the news that His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh has died at the age of 99.
A statement said: ‘Netflix, Left Bank Pictures, Sony Pictures Television and the production team on The Crown are deeply saddened to hear of the death of The Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.’
Officials at Buckingham Palace are now preparing for a royal ceremonial funeral at Windsor Castle in Berkshire in keeping with Philip’s wishes, with a military procession also expected in London – Covid laws permitting.
