Abbey Gelmi on her new gig and Channel Seven colleagues

She’s one of Channel Seven’s rising stars.

And on top of her hosting duties, Abbey Gelmi has landed a role as ambassador for The Star Championships this month.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia this week, the 31-year-old not only expressed her excitement in heading to the races amid a challenging time that’s seen COVID-19 impact the event industry, but also whose career at Seven she would like to emulate.

‘Honestly after 2020, I think everyone is excited to be out and about, so the races are the perfect way to celebrate. I’m loving it,’ Abbey said.

Known for her polished appearance on camera and off, the brunette beauty is working with stylist Jess Pecoraro this race season, to create new looks.

On her tips for keeping race day makeup flawless all day long, Abbey said she’s learnt from makeup artist Michael Brown that ‘prepping your skin’ is the secret.

‘When it comes to race day makeup, less is sometimes more,’ she said. ‘I tend to opt for fresh looks over anything too heavy.’

As for diet and exercise, Abbey said that apart from aesthetics, working out is vital for her ‘overall happiness’.

‘I work out to feel good and running is something I’m really enjoying at the moment. A killer playlist makes all the difference.’
