The show’s strong reviews and the fact that it is in English made Devils an attractive acquisition for the network.

It also reunites Dempsey with CW boss Mark Pedowitz, who was previously the head of ABC Studios for the first few seasons of Grey’s Anatomy.

Though Dempsey has had a success film and television career, he’s best known for his 10-year stint on Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd from 2005–2015.

Other foreign CW acquisitions include the Canadian drama series Coroner and the British sitcom Dead Pixels, about a group of gamers obsessed with an online game.
