‘Life is good, life is great’: Sam Armytage gets candid about her new life in the Southern Highlands after quitting Sunrise last month

Sam Armytage is well and truly enjoying her life post-Sunrise.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Monday, the former Channel Seven host said: ‘Life is good, life is great.’

Since her exit from the breakfast show, the 44-year-old has been taking things at a slower pace at her husband Richard Lavender’s Southern Highlands estate.

‘We’ve had dad to stay for a few weeks and he’s quite well… As well as can be expected,’ she added.

Sam’s father, Mac, suffered a stroke in November but is now on the road to recovery.

‘It’s only been a few weeks so I’ve had a quiet time and haven’t spoken to anyone,’ she added, referencing her former Sunrise co-hosts.

Last month, Sam posted an image on Instagram of herself and Richard, 61, inside a car, rugged up against the cold weather.

A beaming Sam wore a bucket hat and blue turtleneck jumper, while Richard looked relaxed in a black windbreaker.

In the caption, Sam quoted some advice her late mother, Libby, had given her, and said she was embarking on a ‘new chapter’ of her life.

She wrote: ”Edit your life frequently and ruthlessly. It’s your masterpiece after all.’ My mum. And I did.

‘And this is what the next chapter looks like… ‘

Sam officially signed off from Sunrise earlier this month, after an impressive eight-year run on Australia’s most popular breakfast show.

Her resignation announcement followed months of rumours she was preparing to spend more time with Richard and her dog Banjo at his country estate.

Sam started dating Richard in April 2019, and announced their engagement in June last year.

She tied the knot with the millionaire businessman on New Year’s Eve, in a quaint ceremony at his Southern Highlands home.

Their intimate wedding ceremony featured only a small number of guests due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with Richard’s daughters, Sasha and Grace, believed to be in attendance.
