This is the shocking moment a car owner burst out of house to confront a ‘thief’ who appeared to be sifting through his vehicle.

The CCTV footage, recorded in Edmonton, north London, showed one man dressed in a hoodie and dark trousers slowly walking down the road.

He stopped near a parked car to check if it was unlocked before opening the door, climbing inside and using the light from his mobile phone to look around.

But he was soon confronted by the car’s owner who demanded an explanation.

In the clip, recorded on March 31, a hooded figure can be seen strolling down the street with his arm extended as he tries the handle of the car.

He soon realises it is unlocked before he opens the door and steps inside – using the light from his mobile phone to look around.

But just seconds later, the owner of the vehicle, who is wearing shorts, steps out of his house and approaches the vehicle.

He shouts ‘what the f**k are you doing in my car?’ as the hooded figure apologises.

The alleged thief then clambers out of the vehicle and starts talking to the owner who points towards the CCTV camera.

‘Look, it’s recorded,’ he says.

The man then starts to walk away but the owner demands to see inside his pockets.

‘I ain’t got nothing,’ he tells the car owner who proceeds to pull bits of paper from his pockets.

The alleged thief points at the paper on the floor and says: ‘It’s not yours, bro.’

He attempts to walk away once again but the car owner then demands that he pick up the bits of paper and show him everything else that he has.

The hooded man explains that he is homeless and that he only has chocolate in his pockets – at which point the video ends.

It is not known if a report was lodged with police or if any arrests were made.
