Sophie Ellis-Bextor dons a hard hat as she delivers pints through windows for a new beer advert

She’s no stranger to fancy dress after appearing on the most recent series of The Masked Singer as the Alien.

And Sophie Ellis-Bextor was back in character as she wore a white hard hat and an eye-catching orange jumpsuit while filming her latest project on Monday.

As part of a beer advert, the Murder on the Dancefloor hitmaker, 41, flew above the streets in a cherry picker machine to deliver pints through people’s windows.

Pairing the statement jumpsuit with a pair of casual white trainers, Sophie strode along the street looking ready for action.

She completed the construction site look with a blue leather jacket that perfectly matched the rim of her hard hat.

Sophie was harnessed up with multiple ropes hanging from her waist as she prepared to take to the skies for the daring stunt.

But the brunette beauty didn’t let the risky activity stop her from looking her best as she sported a slick of pink lipstick and lashings of eyeliner.

Sophie could be seen pouring pints adjacent to two storey family homes in East London.

The lucky recipients of the cold beers that were poured by the singer’s fair hands had won a competition for the experience.

And the songstress mostly smiled while she became the barmaid of the sky with only the occasional grimace as she spilled some of the drinks onto her counter.

Sophie was the first celebrity to be eliminated on the most recent series of The Masked Singer in December.

The songstress was unmasked as the Alien after she landed in the bottom three with Swan and Badger, with the judges deciding to unmask Alien.

However, the big reveal did not come as a shock to viewers who had guessed during the show Alien was likely Sophie due to her ‘distinctive’ voice and the ‘easy’ clues.

After her true identity was revealed, Sophie said: ‘You’ve crushed my mascot theme!’ before she added: ‘Hopefully my kids will be quite surprised’.

After Sophie was unmasked, host Joel Dommett referenced the crime scene clue in her VT, which was a hint to her song Murder On The Dancefloor.

Following her elimination, the mother-of-five took to social media and admitted her disguise did not fool her children after all, with her one-year-old son Mickey immediately recognising her voice as soon as she started to sing.

She wrote: ‘Yes so as most of you guessed it was me & she in #themaskedsinger. Even my one year old pointed at the telly and shouted ‘mummy!’ when I started singing in the alien suit!

Anyhoo a fun and trippy way to spend a few days and enjoy the rest of the show- no idea who anyone is!’

Sophie’s identity also did not come as a surprise to many viewers as they took to social media to speculate she could be Alien during her performance.

Many viewers pointed to Sophie’s distinctive singing voice, with one writing: ‘I think I have heard Alien performing live. The voice sounds very much like Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The clues all fit too.’

Another said: ‘Considering Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s voice is so distinctive, they could’ve gone a bit more abstract with those easy clues. Literally named one of her albums!’

Another added: ‘Alien = Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Nice try hiding your voice.’

Prior to her performance, the preview video clip rolled and the mystery singer dropped a series of hints including the comment: ‘All the people look like tiny models’.

Then the camera panned to a mannequin wearing a dress as the alien declared that her job in the world is ‘to spread joy love and glitter’.

And Sophie has been doing her best to keep up the nation’s morale in lockdown as her Kitchen Disco series celebrated its one year anniversary at the end of March.

The songstress toasted to the anniversary with cocktails from the comfort of her own kitchen after she performed a series of hits via Instagram Live.

Kitchen Disco was an instant lockdown success, which has led to an album and a tour for Ellis-Bextor, as it broke up the monotony of a year of COVID-19 restrictions.

The singer’s Saturday disco consisted of the usual disco lights and sparkly streamers as a backdrop as well as a large gold balloon in the shape of the number one.

Her three youngest children gleefully danced about around her in costumes, with two dressed up as a ‘party robot’ and a ‘pigeon’.

The Masked Singer star’s five sons – Sonny, 16, Kit, 11, Ray, eight, Jesse, five, and Mickey, two, make regular appearances in her kitchen discos, which is filmed by her musician husband Richard Jones.

Sophie said recently that, while it would be a ‘wacky’ idea, she hasn’t ruled out trying for number six.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, she said: ‘The idea of number six is absolutely wacky and I suspect it won’t happen but it’s a never say never kind of thing.’

She added that she feels she’s had the chance to experience a whole ‘spectrum’ of personalities thanks to her large brood.

Sophie continued: ‘The nice thing is that when you have a big family is you get this sort of spectrum really and you have basically created a tiny little society and kids are quite canny, kids will sort of find something that can be their own and then sort of go headlong into that.

‘I feel like across the board I’ve kind of got most things ticked really in terms of personalities and interests and all of that stuff.’
