Jodie Kidd reveals she’s counting down the days until her West Sussex pub can reopen after lockdown

Jodie Kidd has revealed that she’s excitedly awaiting her pub’s reopening, saying that she ‘can’t wait to see her regulars’ faces’.

The model-turned-landlady, 42, has ran the Half Moon pub in Kirdford, West Sussex, since 2017 but had to close the doors during the coronavirus pandemic.

And although counting down the days until restrictions ease and she can pour pints again, Jodie added that lockdown has brought her closer to beau Joseph Bates.

Almost time! Jodie Kidd has revealed that she’s excitedly awaiting her West Sussex pub’s reopening, saying that she ‘can’t wait to see her regulars’ faces’

Speaking with HELLO! magazine about her plans for life after lockdown, Jodie said that she’s eagerly anticipating catching up with the locals.

Jodie said: ‘I can’t wait to see all our regulars’ faces. The sooner we can open the doors and welcome them back, that will be a wonderful day.’

The British supermodel also chatted about how she’s been able to spend lots of time with her son Indio, nine, and partner Joseph Bates.

‘When you’ve had to spend a lot of time with your loved one, you have time to deal with things and talk. It’s been a good time to really get to know someone,’ she said.

Jodie, who’s been running her pub for four years now, also discussed how she no longer suffers from anxiety like she did when working a a model.

The mother-of-one explained that travelling for jobs when she was just 16-years-old was ‘overwhelming’ and left her wanting to ‘be normal’ like other teens.

Like many publicans, the pandemic has been tough on Jodie and seen her have to furlough staff, including three chefs.

Pubs with outdoor seating areas can reopen from April 12, next Monday, with many Brits rushing to nab a spot once the rule change was announced in March.

Anyone over 16 will have to check in to the NHS Test and Trace app or give their details to staff before going into pubs, cafés or restaurants when they reopen.

Jodie bought The Half Moon in 2017 after hearing rumours that the closed down pub would be turned into homes. She had been visiting the pub for most of her life and decided to buy it with friends Chris Lee and Dan Elson.

Last month, Jodie urged the Chancellor to cut beer duty in the Budget. The model said: ‘The Government must act to help save pubs from the dire situation they face.

‘Following a year of lockdowns, severe trading restrictions and huge uncertainty, almost 2,000 pubs closed their doors for good – that’s five local pubs every day.’

She started petitioning Government for a beer duty cut in 2018 with the ‘Long Live The Local’ campaign. Almost 500,000 people signed a petition in support.

It argues beer duty is three times higher in the UK than the average across the EU and 11 times higher than in Germany and Spain.

Jodie and her partner Joseph, who is a former marine and special forces soldier, were first seen together in Barbados in October 2017, after she accompanied him on a disaster relief mission to Dominica after Hurricane Irma.

According to the Daily Mail’s Sebastian Shakespeare, the duo had previously rowed in kayaks 120 miles down the Gironde, to recreate a World War 2 commando raid.

The model first married internet entrepreneur Aidan Butler in 2005 after a year of romance, but the pair split after 18 months.

She then embarked on a relationship with Argentinian polo player Andrea and the pair welcomed son Indio together in 2011, before parting ways two years later.

The blonde went on to tie the knot with author David Blakeley in 2014, but the marriage ended four months later.
