Sharon Stone reveals Mick Jagger told her to put tin foil over hotel windows to help her sleep

Sharon Stone has revealed that she covers her hotel windows with tinfoil after Mick Jagger told her it would help her sleep. 

The actress, 63, was told by the Rolling Stones frontman, 77, that the handy hint would be her only hope for ‘any decent sleep’ on the road. 

Writing in her book, The Beauty of Living Twice, she said: ‘I did this. My room was a tomb. I’d come in and fall on to the bed fully clothed.’ 

The Basic Instinct star explained: ‘He [Mick] told me to get any decent sleep, when he got to a new town, he bought multiple rolls of aluminium foil and masking tape and then put the foil all over the windows in the hotel rooms, 

‘I did this. My room was a tomb. I’d come in and fall on to the bed fully clothed and my cat, Boxer, would wrap himself around my head, digging his claws into me, padding me until I fell asleep.” 

The title of Sharon’s memoir The Beauty of Living Twice refers to the second chance at life the star was given after surviving a stroke and brain haemorrhage in 2001. 

‘I feel that I did die,’ the actress told Closer Weekly. ‘This kind of giant vortex of white light was upon me and – poof! I sort of took off into this glorious, bright-white light. 

At the time of the stroke, Sharon was living in San Francisco with her journalist husband Phil Bronstein, who she later split from in 2003. 

When the hemorrhage took place in September 2001 the actress thought she was having a stroke and waited three days until she went to the hospital.

The incident caused her to take a break from acting as she learned how to talk and walk properly again. ‘It almost feels like my entire DNA changed,’ she said. 

While in the white light she said she met up with her late friends.

‘I started to see and be met by some of my friends… people who were very, very dear to me [who had died]. I had a real journey with this that took me to places both here and beyond.’

Sharon added: ‘But it was very fast – whoosh! Suddenly, I was back. I was in my body.’

The mother-of-three said: ‘It affected my life so profoundly that it will never be the same.’

And she said there have been benefits to the near death experience. 

Sharon explained:  ‘I get not to be afraid of dying and I get to tell other people that it’s a fabulous thing and death is a gift.

‘When death comes to you, as it will, it’s a glorious and beautiful thing. I had an incredible sense of well-being and a sense that it’s just so near. Death – it’s very near and very safe. It’s not a far away or scary thing.’

‘I feel that God kept me around for a reason,’ said The Muse star.
