Model Erin Holland and former Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice ‘set appear on SAS Australia

Model Erin Holland is set to join the line-up of the 2021 season of SAS Australia, according to a new report. 

On Saturday, The Sydney Morning Herald claimed the former Miss World, 32, will join the intense military training-themed reality show. 

Also slated to take part is Olympian and 2013 Celebrity Apprentice runner-up, John Steffensen, 38, who the paper says has moved from Melbourne to Sydney to begin filming on the program.

It comes after New Idea claimed that Channel Seven is courting a cavalcade of controversial figures for the show, including disgraced chef Pete Evans, 48. 

Late last year, the former My Kitchen Rules judge was dropped by 15 sponsors and companies in two days after posting a neo-Nazi meme to social media.  

Also approached to appear is All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams, 35, the magazine claims.

Other names being bandied about include cricketer Michael Clarke, 39, who if cast, will compete against his ex-wife, Kyly Clarke, 39, New Idea reported. 

The pair, who share a five-year-old daughter, were married in 2012 and announced their separation in February 2020. 

Olympic simmer Ian Thorpe, 38, who has battled alcohol abuse and depression, is also ‘in talks’ to appear according to New Idea.

According to reports, Sam Burgess is likewise considering appearing on the program, after the NRL superstar split with wife Phoebe and found himself in a bitter court battle with her dad. 

The 32-year-old allegedly tested positive to cocaine and driving offences on the way to collect his two children from his ex-wife on February 22. 

Burgess is expected to appear in Moss Vale Local court on May 4, facing charges of ‘drive vehicle, resident more than three months – not obtain a licence’ and ‘use unregistered vehicle’, NSW Police said.

The former Rabbitohs captain is reportedly eyeing a role on blockbuster reality program, and has been offered $150,000 for the role, New Idea claims. 

The Herald Sun claimed earlier this month: ‘Burgess has been approached and is believed to be considering signing up for Channel 7’s SAS: Australia.’ 

Others tipped by The Herald Sun to appear on the show are Brynne Gordon, who is the former bride of eccentric millionaire Geoffrey Edelsten.

Olympian Jana Pittman and former AFL player Heath Shaw have likewise been mentioned among the possible lineup. 

The competition sees celebrities take on gruelling physical and psychological tests from an elite team of ex-Special Forces soldiers.

The program has given contestants who have had controversial pasts – including WAG Candice Warner, PR queen Roxy Jacenko and drug smuggler Schapelle Corby, a chance at redemption.
