MasterChef Australia judge Melissa Leong practised taking bites of food in front of a mirror

Melissa Leong has revealed it took some TV magic to ensure she looks fantastic while taking a bite of food on camera. 

The MasterChef Australia judge, 39, even admits to practising taking bites of food in front of a mirror to get it right. 

She told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday: ‘I think anyone who has to eat on camera learns pretty quickly to not take the bite they wish they could have.’ 

Melissa also admits that there have been times that she needed a few takes to ensure the bite looked perfect. 

‘I worked with some very kind producers early on that said “you might like to have another go at that,”‘ she added. 

Melissa added that ‘a montage of that would have been pretty funny’ if the footage ever surfaced. 

It comes after the reality show judge admitted that she hates being asked about being a ‘household name’.

‘I said yes to doing a job that I felt I could do justice to,’ she wrote in a column for The Daily Telegraph. 

‘And while I know popularity is a function of that success, the whole notion of fame makes me deeply uncomfortable as it’s not something I place any stock in. 

‘Instead, I want to focus on doing a good job and continuing to revel in teasing open the stories of others, through the lens of food,’ she added.

‘Whether your job puts you in the public eye or not, being able to leave your work at work and come home to a different pace of life seems to me not only logical, but sustainable.’ 

Last year, she was widely considered the saving grace of the revamped MasterChef franchise.
