Jeannie Mai and Jeezy have officially tied the knot!

The couple were married during an intimate wedding ceremony held in the backyard of their Atlanta, Georgia home on Saturday, March 27, as confirmed by Vogue.

The 42-year-old TV personality opened up to the outlet about her and the 43-year-old rapper’s nuptials and how the coronavirus pandemic altered their wedding plans.

‘We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate. But we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID,’ said Mai, who originally intended to marry Jeezy in Italy.

She revealed that the sudden passing of Jeezy’s mother Sandra Rose in February inspired them to scrap their earlier wedding plans and move forward with a ‘mini-mony.’

‘After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife.

‘So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends,’ she explained.

Despite the size of their ceremony, that did not stop the now married couple from splurging on luxuries, including custom ensembles for bride and groom.

Jeannie walked down the aisle – more specifically the grand staircase of her sprawling Atlanta abode – in a stunning Galia Lahav gown, complete with a dramatic veil and custom diamond earrings by her pal Rosalina Lydster.

‘I envisioned this gown before it was even made,’ the Emmy Award-winning presenter recalled of her custom get-up. ‘I can’t believe it turned out so perfect. It’s the most beautiful gown I have ever seen.’

Jeannie told the outlet that she ‘got dressed by myself before I walked down the aisle’ because ‘the quiet calms me,’ adding she was ‘so thankful to be in our very own home as I got ready.’

‘Jeezy insisted my dad walk me down the aisle, and we were so glad he did,’ she revealed. ‘My dad is my rock.’

Jeezy, known for his ultra suave style, turned the traditional groom silhouette on its head by sporting a satin pale pink suit.

He rounded out his wedding day ensemble with a black bow tie, coordinating pocket square, and a crisp white dress shirt, which were all curated for him by his go-to tailor Teofilo Flor and stylist Chris Shelby.

Adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols, Jeannie and Jeezy made sure that all of their guests, who were asked to don off white, were tested for the virus twice before attending the ceremony.

To prevent the details of their wedding from being leaked to the public, the couple had their family and friends ‘leave their phones at the door.’

As for the ceremony, it was important for Jeannie to pay homage to her Vietnamese heritage by incorporating a traditional tea ceremony, which was hosted by her brother.

‘In this ceremony, we honored our parents by pouring tea as a gesture to welcome Jeezy into my family, and me into his. Then we paid our respects to our parents and ancestors by bowing four times, each one symbolizing a significant gift in the life that they have provided us with,’ she recalled.

Once they officially become husband and wife, the couple and their small wedding party enjoyed a jazz-filled reception, complete with a live band.

‘And then we danced the night away to our favorite hits, feeling cozier than ever,’ she told Vogue of the reception.
