Coleen Nolan insists the mystery star she branded a ‘diva’ was NOT a Loose Women colleague

Coleen Nolan has denied that the mystery celebrity she branded a ‘diva’ is a Loose Women co-star.

The presenter, 56, who joined the ITV show in 2000, sparked a flurry of speculation when she claimed a celebrity she’d met ‘wasn’t very nice’ backstage despite being viewed as ‘lovely’ by those around her.

But Coleen put an end to the theories on Thursday by taking to Instagram to say the star was not one of her ‘fabulous’ daytime colleagues.

Coleen wrote: ‘Hello you lovely lot….so there’s been some speculation about which Celebs I was referring to, when I spoke about meeting a few Divas over the Years?

‘Can I just state ”emphatically” that I WAS NOT talking about any of my fabulous Loose Women girls!! Now can I PLEASE go back to eating Easter eggs!!! Love you all! Have a lovely Easter! Xxxx.’

On Tuesday Coleen had branded one celebrity a ‘diva’, admitting that despite her views they were still viewed as ‘lovely’ by her colleagues.

Speaking on Melanie Blake’s YouTube series Girl Talk, she said: ‘I cannot say names because I’d be taken to court, the vast majority are fabulous.

‘There’s the odd one who yes, on screen, comes across as lovely and the girl-or-boy-next-door and all that, but actually behind the scenes aren’t very nice. They are quite diva-ish and I find it very difficult to hide my disappointment.’

Coleen did not disclose the name of the star she was referring to. MailOnline has contacted representatives for Loose Women for comment.

Retweeting a clip of Nadia’s empowering speech about her new-found body confidence on Loose Women, Melanie branded the panellist a ‘total witch’ and ‘nasty.’

She tweeted: ‘It’s a shame she ‘officially ‘ gave up acting because Nadia deserve an Oscar for this speech.

‘In 20 years of repping clients I never saw a nastier side to anyone than I did of her & I’m not alone.’

She brutally added: ‘Her constant ‘be kind’ etc speeches are so ironic considering she is a total witch.’

Melanie didn’t shy away from her words when she also replied to a Twitter user with: ‘The time will come. I’d let sleeping dogs lie if she didn’t bleat on about ‘being kind’ every time she gets the chance – when behind the facade she is anything but.

‘If she had any sense – she’d wise up – before more people reveal what she’s really like, like her sister did…’

A representative for Nadia Sawalha said: ‘Nadia is shocked and hurt by this tweet. Nadia is known in the industry as being kind, generous and gives her time and energy to many positive causes.

‘Everyone who knows Nadia knows this is absolutely not true and she will rise above the negativity.’

A different source told MailOnline: ‘Nadia is really hurt by this, it’s come from nowhere.’

It comes after the star claimed she was branded too ‘ugly, fat and old’ for primetime television by cruel network bosses.

Coleen admitted she’s ‘always been judged as a woman’ throughout her career, and despite a lengthy stint on the Loose Women panel, producers could never see ‘past her size and age.’

Speaking on author Melanie Blake’s YouTube series Girl Talk, Coleen said she’d experienced bosses bluntly stating: ‘You’re so ugly, so fat and so old.’

Coleen said her previous primetime jobs had been well-received, but claimed ‘they [bosses] still can’t see past the age and whatever size I am at the time.’

Insisting her comments were not aimed at Loose Women bosses, Coleen added: ‘I think that’s the tragedy really, I am very lucky that Loose Women, whether you’re a fan or not, it’s the only show on telly that has women of all ages, all sizes, all colour.’

‘Outside of that, because sometimes people go ”it’s obviously not sexist because you’re on telly every day” – yeah but from half 12 to half 1.

‘But name anyone my age in primetime co-hosting a show, you just don’t see it and I think that’s really sad

Coleen first joined the Loose Women panel in 2000 and has been an on-off regular ever since.

The star had previously spoken about TV bosses’ comments regarding her weight, claiming executives even told her she needed to get a gastric band as she was ‘too big’ for primetime television.

In a candid interview, Coleen admitted that things are ‘better than it was years ago’ but pointed out there is still a long way to go.

While speaking during A Girls Night In, an online event to launch Melanie Blake’s new novel Ruthless Women, Coleen said: ‘I have had a head of a big TV company saying: ‘If you want to get in prime time television you should get a gastric band, you’re too big to present prime time.’

‘I’ve had: ‘Oh, you’re getting on a bit now, so maybe you’re not right for prime time.’ And yet you see all these guys in prime time, some overweight, some certainly in their 60s and 70s.’
