Hundreds of people have gathered for an illegal rave in Manchester City Centre. 

Officers were deployed to the scene to disperse the crowds at Castlefield Bowl on Wednesday evening, where a DJ booth had been set up.

Officers arrived on the scene and dispersed the crowds by 10.20pm, Manchester Evening News reported. 

According to one local resident, there was even a live DJ at the illegal event.

Joan Davies, Labour councillor for Deansgate, condemned the event, saying: ‘We want everybody to enjoy themselves but this is beyond a level which is tolerable.

‘I think the police have a very, very difficult task, they’ve got to find that balance.’
