Isla Fisher talks about being constantly confused for Amy Adams on The Project

She’s an established actress in her own right, but Isla Fisher said she’s often confused for Amy Adams.

In an interview with The Project on Thursday, the 45-year-old actress said she’s learnt to laugh about the constant comparisons.

‘We laugh about it because Amy has blue eyes and I’ve got brown, our husbands have laughed about it, too,’ she said.

But Isla said the comparisons have lessened amid the coronavirus pandemic, mainly because she hasn’t been going out.

‘I haven’t had it for a while, but I think I’ve been inside my house in COVID for a year,’ she joked.

‘Now to be honest, I look forward to being recognised as anyone. I look forward to being out and about.’

Isla and Amy, 46, even starred together in the 2016 Jake Gyllenhaal thriller, Nocturnal Animals.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October 2017, Isla revealed that even Lady Gaga confused her for Amy at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscars after party.

‘I was there, all excited and dressed up at the bar and, you know, schmoozing with showbiz types, and the crowds parted and there was Lady Gaga,’ she recounted.

‘And she’s heading right toward me, and she says, “Thank you. Your performance in American Hustle, Amy, was…” And I’m thinking, “Oh my gosh, it’s Lady Gaga. I love her so much. I don’t want to tell her the truth.”

‘So I just gracefully thanked her, bowed my head, okay? And then she wants to talk about the performance, and now I’m thinking, “I don’t want to be a liar…”

‘And then I look over her shoulder and there’s Amy Adams walking into the party. So I’m like, “There’s Isla Fisher.” I said, “She’s not even nominated for anything. What’s she doing here?”‘

In a separate interview with the US Today show in November 2016, Isla revealed she once stuck Amy’s face over hers for her family’s Christmas card and no one noticed.

‘I cut-and-pasted Amy Adams’s face over mine, so it was Sacha, Amy and the kids, and then we said, “Seasons greetings from Sacha and Isla”… And no one noticed,’ she said.

‘Everyone was like, “Oh, your card was so cute.” I was like, “It was a joke, it’s not me, it’s Amy!”‘
