‘My blood was boiling!’ Patrick Dwyer condemns Bryce Ruthven’s unwanted advance on Beck Zemek as a ‘smart-a**e aggressive’ move

Married At First Sight groom Patrick Dwyer has condemned the actions of controversial co-star Bryce Ruthven.

On Tuesday, Bryce left bride Rebecca Zemek in floods of tears after he planted an unwanted kiss on her cheek during the couples retreat.

Speaking to Hit’s Jimmy and Nath on Wednesday, Patrick said: ‘My blood boiled straight away. For Beck, there was no consent involved at all.’

‘He [Bryce] went over, stood on top off her and kissed her in a pretty smart-a**e aggressive way… you don’t really want to see that stuff,’ Patrick said.

Bryce, 31, had sarcastically crowned Beck, 27, ‘the queen’ of this year’s MAFS season before planting an unwanted kissed on her cheek.

Patrick said Bryce needed to ‘own’ his behaviour and actions on the series, claiming there was no leg to stand on blaming editing.

‘This was filmed last year, and it did feel like you were reliving the moment again every time you see it on tv. All the emotions come back that you felt at the time. It’s a very crazy life we’re living right now,’ Patrick added.

While some fan accounts, such as Bachiegossip, have screenshot what appeared to be Patrick smiling during the tense moment Bryce approached Beck, his demeanour changed drastically on screen when Bryce made the unwanted advance.

Patrick was the first male to express his disgust with Bryce’s action, shouting at his co-star: ‘Bryce, how dare you do that, mate!’

He added, pointing towards a crying Beck: ‘Mate, that was disgusting.’

On Wednesday, business manager Beck, 27, said she felt ‘violated’ and ‘harassed’ by the incident and claimed production had to be shut down the following day.

She told 2Day FM’s The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin: ‘I felt violated. It was one of those moments you’d bring the contract up and see what your rights are because I didn’t sign up for this.’
