Actress Naya Rivera will posthumously play the role of Catwoman/Selina Kyle in an upcoming animated Batman feature.
The late star, who tragically drowned last summer, completed her voice work in the film prior to her death and was revealed as a member of the cast by The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.
Playing the caped crusader in the superhero flick will be Supernatural star Jensen Ackles alongside a stand-out ensemble cast including Josh Duhamel and Amy Landecker.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One is expected to premiere sometime in the spring or summer of 2021.
The two part project will star Ackles as Batman/Bruce Wayne opposite foils Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent and Rivera as Catwoman/Selina Kyle.

The rest of the ensemble cast includes, Billy Burke (James Gordon), Titus Welliver (Carmine Falcone), David Dastmalchian (Calendar Man), Troy Baker (Joker), Amy Landecker (Barbara Gordon), Julie Nathanson (Gilda Dent), Jack Quaid (Alberto), Fred Tatasciore (Solomon Grundy), and Alastair Duncan (Alfred).

The Long Halloween is an adaptation of a 13-issue comic book series about the Caped Crusader’s early years as a vigilante superhero. It was published by DC comics in 1996-1997.
Rivera’s role is one of her final projects completed before her untimely death in July.
Naya tragically drowned at the age of 33 while she was boating with her young son Josey at Lake Piru in California back in July.

It’s believed that Rivera had jumped into the water to help Josey back onto their small rental pontoon boat, but was unable to get back onboard herself.
Josey, who was four years old at the time, was found sleeping and alone in the boat as it drifted that afternoon, with no sign of his mother. The child is living with his father and guardian, Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey.
Rivera starred as Santana Lopez on the hit Fox musical show Glee throughout the entire six season duration of the series from 2009 to 2015.
The cast of Glee will be reuniting to honor their late castmate at the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards next month which will be eight months after her death.

Demi Lovato played Santana’s girlfriend on Glee, Dani, and will introduce the tribute at the awards ceremony on Thursday, April 8.
The recognition will highlight the character’s impact on LGBTQ teens and Latinx LGBTQ representation on television.
The tribute will feature Glee castmembers including Jacob Artist, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Vanessa Lengies, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Alex Newell, Amber Riley, Harry Shum Jr., Becca Tobin, and Jenna Ushkowitz.
