Eva Mendes showed off the colorful stylings of her two children, and how they use her as a ‘canvas.’

The 47-year-old actress took to Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a new photo of her, revealing some of the colors her kids, six-year-old Esmerelda and four-year-old Amanda used on her face.

The Hitch star took it all in stride, though, but it seems to happen quite frequently in her household.

‘My kids did this to me. Again. From head to toe. I guess, when in doubt, be their canvas,’ Mendes said in the caption of her Instagram snap.

She was wearing a black and white striped top with large gold hoop earrings and a colorful headdress for the snap.

There were smudges of red and green paint visible on her cheek and chin, as evidence of her being a ‘canvas.’

Mendes met their daughters’ father, Ryan Gosling in 2011, while filming their indie movie The Place Beyond the Pines.

They started dating shortly thereafter, with Mendes giving birth to Esmerelda in 2014 and Amanda in 2016.

She also made the decision to retire from acting, with her final role in husband Gosling’s directorial debut, Lost River.

When asked about her six-year acting hiatus in an Instagram comment last year, Mendes said there are roles she simply does not want now that she’s a mom.

‘As a mother now, there are many roles I won’t do. There are many subject matters that I don’t want to be involved with, so it limits my choices and I’m fine with that. I have to set an example for my girls now,’ she said.

Back in 2018, just two years into her retirement, Mendes stated to E! Online that she simply does not want to leave her kids to go back to work.

‘”I’m just so obsessed with my kids that I don’t want to leave them,’ Mendes said, adding, ‘They’re just still so little.’

‘I don’t feel like I have it balanced at all. I kind of have been figuring it out as I’m going along and it’s just important to have a support system,’ she continued.

‘I have my family, I have Ryan’s family and that’s just like, invaluable to have family around supporting you,’ Mendes added.
