Channel 10 boss hints Shark Tank Australia could return but says it is an ‘incredibly complex’ to produce

Channel 10’s Shark Tank Australia was last seen on screens back in 2018.

And on Wednesday, Beverley McGarvey – Channel 10’s chief content officer and executive vice president of ViacomCBS Australia and NZ – hinted the reality show could return.

She told TV Tonight that the show has not been forgotten and discussed among the network’s bosses every six months.

Back on screens? Channel 10’s Beverley McGarvey hinted Shark Tank Australia could return, saying it’s a program that is discussed among the network’s bosses every six months. Pictured left to right is: Steve Baxter, Janine Allis, Andrew Banks, Naomi Simson and Glen Richards

But she noted that it is an ‘incredibly complex’ show to produce.

‘It looks quite simple in its format. But it’s actually incredibly complex. So we do look at it often. I would never say “never” about that,’ she said of the program.

The show sees everyday Australians, who are aspiring entrepreneurs, present a product or service to the investors, known as the Sharks, for capital in return for a share of their company.

The multimillionaire investors included tech investor Steve Baxter, Boost Juice founder Janine Allis, Talent2’s Andrew Banks, Red Balloon’s Naomi Simson and Glen Richards, founder and CEO of Greencross Vets.

She continued: ‘It’s a very particular show to produce. It requires a lot of diligence on the business side, because they’re real businesses. We’ve got a lot of obligations (around) how the businesses work. So it’s not a simple show.

Despite the show starting on Channel 10, Ms McGarvey said she could not guarantee that it would stay with the network, hinting that the rights for the program are up for grabs.

‘I’d say everybody looks at it,’ she said of the Endemol Shine production.
