He has been hard at work filming Amazon’s new spy thriller Citadel.

And Richard Madden was seen getting a head cast made in a behind-the-scenes video that he then shared via Instagram on Tuesday.

The actor, 34, looked relaxed as the make-up and special effects crew got to work, first protecting his hair and face before they covered him in plaster.

Covered up: It is unclear why the crew needed a head cast of the actor

Wow: Richard Madden was covered in plaster to make a head cast in a behind-the-scenes video from Amazon’s new spy thriller Citadel, which he shared via Instagram on Tuesday

Putting a bald cap over his brunet locks, the team then dabbed talcum powder on his chest before applying a mould down to his shoulders, leaving him nose holes to breath through during the process.

After completely covering him, the crew then put a plaster cast over the first mould to get a full scale replica of his head.

Richard appeared in good spirits after they took the plaster cast and mould off him, as he smiled to the camera before ending the video.

Earlier this month, he was seen filming action-packed mid-air stunts with Priyanka Chopra and he has also acted alongside Ashleigh Cummings for the drama.

While filming with Priyanka, Richard was ever the suave spy as he wrapped an arm around The White Tiger star’s shoulders as they flew in the air.

Citadel, which also stars Stanley Tucci, is described as an ‘action-packed spy series with a compelling emotional centre’.

The series is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the brothers behind several hit Marvel films, including Avengers: Endgame, and will feature a number of spin-off productions.

The plot for Citadel has been kept tightly under wraps, but it will include several productions in countries like Italy, India and Mexico for the spin offs.

Earlier this month, Priyanka promoted the shoot while posing with a bouquet of flowers for a picture posted on Instagram, and she wrote: ‘Day 1 on #Citadel. Thank you team for a sweet welcome! Let’s goooooo!’
