MAFS’ Bryce Ruthven’s cringeworthy comedy routine surfaces

Bryce Ruthven’s cringeworthy comedy routine resurfaces: Married At First Sight star says he’s a ‘black man trapped in a white man’s body’, loves ‘ghetto music’, and jokes about going home with ‘drunk’ women

He’s been labelled ‘Australia’s most hated man’ thanks to his gaslighting behaviour towards wife Melissa Rawson on Married At First Sight

And it seems Bryce Ruthven, 31, has a history of leaving audiences unimpressed.

This week, cringeworthy footage from 2013 resurfaced on Instagram fan account Bachie Gossip showing Bryce’s first attempt at performing a live comedy routine.

Not funny! Cringeworthy footage from 2013 has resurfaced this week showing Married At First Sight star Bryce Ruthven’s first attempt at performing a live comedy routine

The car-crash video shows the radio announcer bumbling through a four-minute stand-up routine about ‘ghetto’ music and ‘taking home drunk women at 3am’.

‘There’s a bit of a thing going around on stage, I cop a bit of s**t. Because… I’m a black person stuck inside a white person’s body,’ he began.

After a smattering of awkward laughter, Bryce continued: ‘I’m a big fan of “ghetto” music. Have you heard of Johnny Ruffo? He’d be my number one man.’

It’s unclear whether Bryce’s reference to Johnny Ruffo – who is white and known for singing pop music – was made in jest.

Bryce continued: ‘Timomatic, he’s up there as one of the best singers ever. Don’t even get me started on Pitbull. He made that song with Kesha, Timber? Or the Tinder version? Anybody have Tinder?

‘I was going to say, you can have me if you want. Just swipe positive.’

‘I occasionally like to sing it, if you haven’t heard our brekky [radio] show. So, I’ll sing a line,’ he said, before performing a rendition of the line: ‘I’m on top of the world, when I’m on top of you, girl.’

A heckler from the audience suddenly piped up, shouting: ‘Classy!’ Bryce responded: ‘Classy, yeah, that’s what I was [like] when I was 18.’

Charming: 'I'm now 24, and at 3am in the morning I like to sing that line to a girl, she normally has to be drunk to actually buy it and come home,' he said

‘But yeah, it hasn’t really worked since I moved out… I’ve been here five months so I think I’m chucking that joke out the window.’

Unfortunately, the reality star failed to extract more than a few polite chuckles from the audience.

It’s unclear whether Bryce has since returned to the stage for another attempt at stand-up comedy.

Better luck next time? He failed to extract more than a few polite chuckles from the audience
