Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway viewers are distraught because show is ending for the season

Ant and Dec‘s Saturday Night Takeaway’s next episode will be the end for the season, Stephen Mulhern revealed during last week’s show.

And viewers were left distraught when they learned the programme would be coming to an end so soon, and they took to Twitter to share their discontent.

The presenter, 43, confirmed during Saturday’s show that it was the penultimate episode of the season, as he spoke on behalf of the Geordie duo, both 45.

In the seventh, and final, episode of the season, Mo Gilligan will be taking on the role of their special guest announcer.

Other highlights set to appear on the programme include the final episode of their drama Double Trouble, which sees their evil clones target them.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to express their sadness over the show reaching its final episode of the series already.

During the show, Stephen also revealed he had orchestrated an elaborate prank with Lorraine Kelly, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Shofield and the Loose Women earlier in the week.

During her interview with KSI, Lorraine, 61, was seen dealing with a pesky fly, leg cramp, a bout of yawning, and a mouse in the studio.

Lorraine’s antics matched those of all the presenters across the ITV daytime brand, including Good Morning Britain, This Morning, and Loose Women.

Ant and Dec said that they organised the hilarious show prank by asking fellow presenter Stephen to hold up signs with words that Holly, 40, and Phillip, 58, had to say during the broadcast.

The bizarre segment last week saw Holly share that she was ‘bursting for a wee’, before she and Phillip constantly chatted over chef James Martin as he attempted to present his cooking segment.

Stephen held up a series of white signs with various random phrases and tasks written on them that Holly and Phil had to try and incorporate into their scripts.

One of the tasks the pair had to complete was ‘pretending to have cramp’ which Phil then acted out, prompting Holly to say: ‘You have a cramp? Salt, I’ll walk it off and get some salt.’

Leaping from her chair on the socially-distanced set, she then wandered from one end of the studio to the kitchen, before saying: ‘I can’t find it! Can’t find the salt!’

Other phrases they had to include in their scripts were ‘don’t mug me off’, ‘flaps’ and ‘big bush’.

The instructions from Stephen sparked chaos on set and viewers quite rightly took to Twitter in droves to share their view that their actions were all part of a ‘prank’ coordinated by Ant and Dec.
