Joey King talks starting therapy in revealing interview with Flaunt magazine: ‘I started it to be the best version of myself that I am trying to be’

She has two movies in the works – The Kissing Booth 3 and Bullet Train with Brad Pitt

And Joey King is the cover girl for Flaunt Magazine‘s Dawn Chorus issue.

The 21-year actress revealed in her interview that she has focused on self care and started therapy to ‘be the best version of myself that I am trying to be.’

 The movie star said: ‘I have done a lot of work for myself this year. I started therapy this year, which is something I have never done before. I started it to be the best version of myself that I am trying to be.’

Joey donned a white Fendi Spring 2021 look consisting of a bralette, shorts and jacket, adding jewelry from Pandora for the cover story.

The Netflix star said of doing on camera and off camera work, the star said: ‘I feel so frickin’ grateful to have reached such a certain amount of success where I am now able to decide what I want to produce, and create opportunities for myself that maybe otherwise wouldn’t have presented themselves to me.’

Her focus is to not put too much pressure on herself because she always felt like she had.

She says to just say ‘”Hey, it’s okay that you’re anxious.” or “It’s okay you’re overwhelmed and only answer one email.” Just being able to say that, I feel better… I don’t think I am the most patient person,’ adding its something she thinks she needs to work on. 

During her cover story, Joey said that of being in the public eye: ‘Being an actor is so tough, because you have this image of who you are and what kind of image you want to present to other people, when in reality you have no control of what people think of you.’

The star continued: ‘…I started to see the downside of people having so much information about you or to your personality or personal information.’

Joey spoke out about the diverse roles she’s done, which range from a teen romantic comedy (The Kissing Booth) to a true crime drama (The Act).

Joey explained: ‘I think that being able to be an everyday person who is able to transform into someone like Elle Evans, to just be like every girl and able to be a lead of a movie, is meaningful.’

Adding to the magazine: ‘And also to become someone like Gypsy [Rose Blanchard] and completely strip away my vanity. I think people resonate with that, that vanity is not my top focus.’
