Vernon Kay will add another credit to his family friendly CV this April when he fronts newly syndicated ITV show Game Of Talents. 

The former All Star Family Fortunes host returns to mainstream TV with a new role on the irreverent series, which endeavours to blend the best elements of two surefire ratings winners – game shows and talent shows. 

An early preview gives fans a taste of what to expect, with a smartly suited Kay dodging fireworks, feather and flying marshmallows while familiarising himself with his script.

A plume of fire even threatens to engulf the presenter as he attempts to avoid the flying obstacles, suggesting the entertainment on show will mirror ITV mainstay Britain’s Got Talent. 

A visibly ruffled Kay is later seen dusting himself off while telling viewers: ‘Blimey, I didn’t see that coming.’ 

ITV has syndicated the show following a promising start for Fox Network in the United States, where it launched with Wayne Brady as host from March 10th.

With elements taken from hugely popular talent show The Masked Singer, two teams of must guess the hidden talents of participating members of public, based on first impressions and a series of telling clues.   

The forthcoming series is being made by Thames – whose previous mainstream credits include Britain’s Got Talent and the recently relaunched Supermarket Sweep.

A Thames spokesperson explained: ‘Each episode will see contestants team up with a celebrity favourite as the pairs work together to try and figure out the surprising and often bizarre hidden talents of eight mystery performers.

‘So, can they really spot the opera singer from the weightlifter, or the acrobat from the fire eater based solely on their appearance and some intriguing clues along the way?

‘Game of Talents merges the excitement of a talent show with all the fun of a gameshow where viewers can play along at home.’ 

Kay added: ‘We’re lining up some amazing performers whose skills are both jaw-droppingly brilliant and at times surreal.   

“I can’t wait for viewers to play along at home and try to guess who has which hidden talent. Prepare to be shocked and amazed in equal measure.”

Game Of Talents is scheduled to air on ITV1 in April. An official launch date is yet to be announced.
