Mollie King has NOT set a date yet for her ‘destination’ wedding to fiancé Stuart Broad

Mollie King and fiancé Stuart Broad are ‘taking it slow’ planning their wedding amid the ongoing Covid pandemic.

The singer and the cricketer announced their engagement on New Year’s Day, with Stuart jetting off to Sri Lanka immediately afterwards for 10 weeks for work.

But despite reuniting with Mollie this month, the pair are ‘being careful’ about planning the wedding, and have not set a date.

‘We haven’t booked a date yet,’ Mollie, 33, told MailOnline on Tuesday. ‘It’s only been the last couple of weeks we have heard announcements about weddings [by the government].

‘I am just grateful and lucky that I am with him and engaged. We don’t have to do this right now. I dream of getting married to him, and want to put a date in, and I’m having so much fun [thinking about it] but we are taking it slowly.

‘We need to be careful with all the guidelines and stuff.’

Mollie has been inundated with fans on Instagram who are in the same boat.

‘I get lots of lovely messages from brides-to-be. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for everyone. These people have been spending years planning, saving up for a dream day. I want all the pieces to fit together for them,’ she said.

This hasn’t stopped Mollie from spit-balling ideas for the big day.

‘I am having fun creating mood boards. I can’t help it! I do it on Instagram, I am so excited. I post things about destinations and dresses.’

This suggests The Saturdays star is looking to travel abroad to tie the knot as she hunts for the perfect ‘destination’ for the nuptials.

Of Stuart, 34, flying across the world to play cricket the day after he popped the question, Mollie admitted ‘it was tough’.

‘In 2020 we were living in each other’s pockets and then suddenly he was gone!’ she recalls. ‘I’m grateful we got to spend a lot of time last year together in lockdown. But he travels so much and I have had to adapt to that.

‘I love having him around and I miss him so much when he’s not. I have had to train myself that this is what he does and that’s what our lives are. I have been teaching myself to deal with that better.

‘Obviously it’s a positive that I do miss him so much – that would be a worry if I didn’t!’

She added: ‘I was on cloud nine and then he had to leave the next day. It was a whirlwind – in the best possible way!

‘That was tough. Now he’s back home though we are getting started with plans. But it was a unique situation.’

The couple were sure to keep in touch every day while he was abroad.

Of the past year, Mollie reflected: ‘It was a weird year, waiting for good news, waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel. But I do strongly believe that this crazy year has brought us all together.’

She admits to being ‘such an over-thinker’, but that lockdown helped her cope with that.

‘I find it very hard to switch off at bedtime, my mind is racing at 100 miles per hour,’ she said. ‘What I have learnt is that it’s very important to switch off though. I have tried to be kind to myself and remind myself it’s not lazy to binge-watch something.’

Mollie has collaborated with Disney+ for the launch of Star, which brings a brand new world of TV series, movies and originals, with fresh stories added every week.

On lockdown, she said: 'Getting out of those four walls, having a change of scenery, being able to nip out now for a 40 min walk with my dog Alfie becomes the highlight of my day, while before all this we might have taken that for granted!'

‘I’ve re-watched Grey’s Anatomy, Brother’s & Sisters, and Pretty Woman and The Devil Wears Prada for the 100th time, because it makes me happy to!’ Mollie said. ‘We just have to do things to keep our spirits high in this difficult and worrying time. Escapism is important.’

On what she’s missed most – and enjoyed the most – about lockdown, Mollie added: ‘I have missed my family – my parents in particular – but watching TV occupies me and switches me off from being such a worrier.

‘And I am always told that if I am feeling worried or anxious then going for a walk really helps. And that’s something we have all done more of in lockdown.
