And on Monday, Demi Lovato spoke further about her experience and where she is in her journey now, while looking nothing short of incredible on the cover of the latest issue of Paper Magazine.
The Confident hitmaker, 28, rocked a bizarre pointy-shouldered black outfit in the mind-bending cover visual, which featured a major fisheye lens, courtesy of photographer Dana Trippe.

Other trippy pictures from the publication saw the star in an elongated leopard print dress with hood, as well as an oversized white puffer jacket with sleeves that extended forever.

Demi rocked her gorgeous new pixie cut in all of the pictures, with hairstyling by Cesar Ramirez and make up done by Mario Dedivanovic.
In the article, Lovato again opened up about sobriety on her own terms, and how she’s incorporating ‘moderation’ into her approach as opposed to pursuing ‘complete sobriety’.
‘I feel like I wanted to get a great understanding of it for myself before I told the world about it, and also, it’s just really important to note that just because I am trying this doesn’t mean it’s for everybody,’ she reflected.
‘Just like the dogmatic views of complete sobriety, that isn’t a one size fits all solution for everybody.’

The songbird also revisited her very public break up from ex-fiancé Max Ehrlich last fall.
‘Going back over the past year, I thought my life was going to turn out a lot differently than it has,’ she reflected.
‘At one point I was engaged to a man, and now I’m very much not.’

She also talked about ignoring any negativity she finds in the media about her, saying ‘the positives outweigh the negatives.’
‘I think it was right after I got out of rehab in 2018. I saw an article somewhere that said I was morbidly obese, and that is the most triggering thing that you could possibly write about somebody with an eating disorder. That sucked, and I wanted to quit, I wanted to use, wanted to give up,’ Demi recalled.
‘And then I just realized that if I don’t look at those things then they can’t affect me. So, I stopped looking and I just really try not to look at anything negative. I think the positives outweigh the negatives. I think that if they didn’t, I wouldn’t be doing this.’

Over the weekend, Lovato continued to discuss her experience with substances, when she spoke with Tracy Smith on CBS Sunday Morning.
The Heart Attack singer explained that her approach to substance use now can be termed as ‘California sober,’ meaning she drinks alcohol and smokes marijuana in moderation, which she says helps her refrain from using harder drugs.
She said: ‘I think that the term that I best identify with is California Sober.
‘I really don’t feel comfortable explaining the perimeters of my recovery with people because I don’t want anyone to look at my perimeters of safety and think that’s what works for them because it might not,’ the Camp Rock veteran added.
‘I am cautious to say that, just like I feel the complete abstinent method isn’t like a one-size-fits-all solution for everybody. I don’t think that this journey of moderation is a one-size-fits-all solution for everybody, too.’
The pop star, whose four-part YouTube documentary Dancing With The Devil premieres on Tuesday, has also been drumming up buzz for her upcoming album – titled the same as her doc – which drops early next month.

On her Instagram, Demi has posted several snippets from the new record, along with teases of the acclaimed artists she’s collaborating with.
One such collab is with none other than Ariana Grande, for a track called Met Him Last Night, as Lovato confirmed in the Paper article.
Other team-ups include My GFs are My BFs with Saweetie, and a new track with Noah Cyrus called The Art of Starting Over.
