‘With this musical I got paired up with amazing songwriters so I’m approaching it sort of like a pop album, but it’s still a musical,’ Lambert began on the podcast.

‘I can’t say too much right now because we haven’t really announced what it is or how it’s going to be, but I’m collaborating with some great people, I can tell you that … it definitely is rock and roll, though!’ Lambert added.

‘Musically it’s pretty diverse, but it’s the life story of an actual person and it’s not me! And the majority of the story takes place in the 70s,’ Lambert continued.

Lambert added how he’s trying to, ‘get more into the acting world. I think that would be really fun.

‘And also, I’m starting to become interested in planting seeds in the creative space where it’s not necessarily for my own music, but to create other projects behind the scenes, to be a producer or a writer or a consultant. There’s definitely some stuff in the works. I’m getting geared up for that,’ he added.

Lambert added he’s the type of artist who is always trying to, ‘reinvent themselves a little bit. I like changing it up.’

‘I don’t like repeating myself and I don’t like following what other people are doing necessarily. I like figuring out what works for me. With this project, more than ever, I feel like I’m more in the driver’s seat,’ he added.

Lambert also opened up about losing the role of Ramon, the best friend of Lady Gaga’s character Ally, which was played by Anthony Ramos.

‘I auditioned for that part in A Star Is Born. It was so funny to me, because they told me about it, “She’s going to have like a gay best friend,”‘ he began.

‘I was like “Okay, that could be cute” and then I got the script and it was like… he was a Latin American character, like he was a Latino character,’ Lambert added.

‘You know his name was Latino, a lot of the slang was using, was calling her “Mami” and all this stuff and I was like, and how is this kind of work? Should I just not go to the audition? This is not my part!’ he added.

Lambert most recently voiced Emile in Ratatouille: The Tiktok Musical and had a guest starring role in Moonbase 8.
