The English socialite, speaking with DailyMailTV, called the shutdown of the restaurant industry ‘really, truly devastating’ as the pandemic closed down eateries worldwide a year ago.

‘We were prepared for everything, but we weren’t prepared for this,’ Vanderpump said. ‘It was unsustainable for so many.’

She referenced an attempt to reopen last autumn, saying, ‘We did open briefly, but then we shut down again’ amid rising COVID-19 rates in the Southern California area.

‘It costs a lot of money to open up and then shut down again; so, that was kind of hard,’ she said. ‘We watched the numbers very, very closely because my staff and the safety of customers [is] of utmost importance.’

Vanderpump said she has been vaccinated, and has ‘been encouraging [her] staff’ to do the same.

The reality star’s other business endeavors with Todd have reopened their other establishments, Sur in West Hollywood and Las Vegas’ Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars Palace.

‘My first love is really the restaurant business,’ she said. ‘To open that back up and welcome people back through the doors [is] great.’

She noted that Pump’s expansive outdoor set-up makes it ‘a great space especially for what’s going on now.’

In terms of continuing with her hit Vanderpump Rules, she said that circumstances depend on when Bravo is ready to commence with production.

‘I think we need to be at least 50 percent capacity and Bravo needs to pull the trigger,’ she said. ‘I think we’ll know pretty soon one way or another.’
